Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves gets new trailer with more jokes than action

Dungeons & Dragons

Paramount has released a new trailer for the new Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie which is set to premiere later this year.

The latest trailer shows off the cast of characters including Justice Smith as Simon the Sorcerer, Chris Pine as Edgin the Bard, Michelle Rodriguez as Holga the Barbarian, and more.

Instead of a quick montage like the first trailer, we get a longer scene featuring Edgin and Holga about to be executed which sets the tone for the rest of the trailer.

After a little more exposition, the trailer then becomes another montage once again featuring Led Zepplin’s Whole Lotta Love.

The trailer shows the film as one with constant tone-breaking humor that Marvel has been lampooned for in recent months. Beneath it all, however, is a plot grounded in the lore of the Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting of Forgotten Realms.

The big villain appears to be a Red Wizard of Thay, likely working for Sammaster the Lich who rules the magocratic nation in the far east. You can check out the latest trailer below:

While the movie might be exciting, the tabletop side of things is going through a bit of a rough patch. Wizards of the Coast recently walked back their intended Open Game License changes to Dungeons & Dragons.

The changes were made amid consumer blowback to changes that would have seemingly allowed Hasbro to demand royalties from content that used the traditionally free license.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is set to premiere on March 3, 2023.
