This week in Warhammer – New Battletomes, a classic tank, and special commemorative miniature

This Week in Warhammer

Games Workshop have previewed this week’s selection of Warhammer preorders, including two new Battletomes for Age of Sigmar and some Horus Heresy reinforcements.

As with every Sunday preview, Games Workshop released a short intro video showing off the upcoming releases and what gamers can expect from this week’s round of Warhammer Community articles, Twitch streams, and Warhammer+ content.

Games Workshop is celebrating 35 years of Warhammer 40,000 this week, with both a big preview event on Saturday and a special commemorative miniature.

Bayard’s Revenge is based on a classic piece of artwork, and consists of an Emperor’s Champion impaling an Ork Nob on a decorative diorama base. It’s a great piece for collectors and painters, and can be used in your Black Templars army as an Emperor’s Champion.

This miniature will only be available until October 23rd, so make sure you preorder it online or through your local game store if you want it.

Moving on to the Mortal Realms, Age of Sigmar is getting two new Battletomes this week. The Lumineth Realm-lords are finally getting their Battletome after being the focus of a two-player battle box with Disciples of Tzeentch, who received their own Battletome last week. As with all Battletome releases, Lumineth Realm-lords will also be getting a set of reference cards and faction dice.

The Lumineth elves are also receiving their Vanguard box, which includes a Scinari Cathallar leading a unit of Vanari Bladelords, a pike wall of Vanari Auralan Wardens, and some Vanari Auralan Sentinels. These are all pretty common core units in a Lumineth Realm-lords army, making it a great place to start the faction. Buying multiple boxes is also a fantastic way to quickly bulk up a collection.

The lumbering giants of the Sons of Behemat are also getting their Battletome and dice this week. The Mancrusher Gargant kit has been repackaged as the Mancrusher Mob, giving you three of these brutes that are the closest thing the faction has to an “infantry” unit.

The Mega-Gargant kit has also been repackaged with new sprues allowing you to build the Beast-smasher and the highly anticipated King Brodd, giving the faction its first true named character.

Horus Heresy is getting some reinforcements and upgrades as well. The Land Raider Proteus kit is finally coming out in plastic, and can optionally be assembled as the Explorator variant.

Some classic upgrade sets are being rereleased as well, including the MKII torsos, MKII shoulder pads, MKIV shoulder pads, and Cataphractii shoulder pads for the World Eaters. Meanwhile, Blood Angels players can buy MKIII shoulder pads and MKIV torsos.

Black Library is releasing a few new novels as well. Since Black Templars are the subject of the special commemorative miniature, it’s only fitting that they are also getting a new novel in the form of Helbrecht: Knight of the Throne by Mark Collens.

Brotherhood of the Storm by Chris Wraight, the Legacies of Betrayal anthology, and Scourge of Fate by Robbie MacNiven are also getting released as audiobooks.

Finally, you can get in the holiday spirit with some new 40k Christmas socks:

All of these new Warhammer minis and books will be available for preorder on October 8th, and will get a full release the following Saturday. Be sure to check out the big Warhammer 40,000 35th anniversary preview livestream on October 8th for loads of new miniature reveals.
